2.1.1. CD-ROM
The CD-ROM contains the electronic manuals and software necessary for developing programs.
Insert the enclosed CD into your computer; the installer should auto-start. The installer program will
create the C:\Workspace folder on your PC. HEW is installed in the
C:\Program Files\Renesas folder by default.
3.0 System Connectivity
The following hardware and software products are required to use the RLCD2378 Kit.
• Host Computer (supplied by user)
• RSKH8S2378 board and daughter board.
• LCD Panel with high voltage inverter and integrated touch screen
• AC adapter
• Serial cable
• Software Tools (HEW IDE, FDT, Compiler/Linker) installed on host computer
• E10A Debugger (optional, not supplied with kit)
3.1. Host Computer Requirements
The minimum requirement to be able to use the software that comes with the RLCD2378 is a PC with a
serial port and Microsoft Windows 2000, or XP. For debugging with the optional (user supplied) E10A-
USB debugger, the PC also needs a USB port.
3.2. RLCD2378 Boards
The RLCD2378 boards consist of the RSKH8S2378 board and a daughter board pre-assembled together.
It is recommended that the user not attempt to separate the boards as it is easy to damage the
connectors. The external flash is factory programmed with all the images for all the LCD sample projects
included with the kit.
3.3. RLCD2378 LCD Panel Assembly
The LCD panel assembly consists of the LCD display, integrated touch screen and a high voltage inverter
board (attached underneath) to power the florescent backlight. Note the touch screen is very fragile and
should be handled carefully.
3.4. LCD API, Driver and Support Software
The RLCD2378 includes a simple yet powerful LCD and graphics API along with a Kyocera LCD driver
and software for programming the external flash. For details, see Chapter 5.0.
